Let's Talk
With me, it's one-on-one.
Process
First things first. Through a series of conversations about your needs and wants for your website (including the nature of your organization, intended audience, etc), I will assess approximately how much the project will cost. Some sites will obviously be more extensive than others. For all parties' benefits, I will make a list of what needs to be done in an expeditious fashion, and we will resume from there. If your needs exceed my abilities, I will tell you forthright.
Site Architecture. We'll talk about how much content your website will have and the best way to organize such content to maximize usability.
Sketching. I will sketch ideas, create a wireframe or two, and present them to you. Through dialogue, we will agree upon a design. I welcome you to be as frank as possible about your needs while listening to my input and eye for editing.
Development. I will be away for a few days. We will discuss turnaround time based on our schedules. I will come back with a page, fully laid out and coded. This is when you'll review what I have done and make any requests for changes. It doesn't end until you are satisfied.
Reaching the market is the point.Testing time. I will then begin to test the website in different browsers on different platforms. This is crucial for different browsers have different bugs and problems that need to be addressed. Why? If a website works as intended in, say, Firefox but not in Internet Explorer, you are locking out 50% of potential visitors and customers. Reaching the marketplace is the point, and unfortunately, a great portion of it is using a buggy browser. It is a good thing we will not be in the same place when this is happening because it involves a great deal of profanity on my part. But thanks to a number of great books on CSS and Web Standards, life is getting easier.
Delivery. Happy time. I will add an accompanying instruction manual if your site is simple enough for you to manage yourself (i.e. Wordpress-based blog or website). Alternatively, you can hire me for maintenance.
To sum it up, the price will vary according to: budgets, # of pages, # of design variations, how extensive a design is, cost of stock images, turnaround time, different media (flash, video, etc), and my experience in areas that need to be accomplished. So the best thing for you to do is CONTACT me and I'll ask a series of questions about what you are looking for and we can be on our way, hopefully together!
